Description

This fashionable bib-front dress shirt was feature in Harper's Bazaar in the 1870s , and became very popular for rural tradesmen, farmers and as an urban trend in Europe and America.

The shaped front bib has a buttoned placket opening, finished with a horizontal tab enclosing a box pleat. the simple neck band war originally worn with a separate purchased collar. Soft pleats fall in back from a shoulder yoke; the sleeves are also pleated into cuffs.

This classic shirt is still a very handsome choice and is a perfect companion with a vest or as a woman's oversized tunic or nightshirt. Pattern includes instructions for finishing touches.

Suggested fabrics: Shirting weight fabrics such as broadcloth, gingham, muslin or lightweight cotton flannel.
